HEC-5 has been developed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. However, software developed at the Hydrologic Engineering Center is made available to the public whenever appropriate. Use is not restricted and individuals outside of the Corps of Engineers may use the program without charge. HEC will not provide user assistance or support for this software to non-Corps users.

(Single
File Setup) HEC-5 Program, Version 8.0 (2.8MB)
- From
a MS DOS Prompt or Windows GUI, run hec5pkgv8.exe.
- Extract
all files to the default folder (C:\HEC-5 Installation) or in
the Hard Drive of your choice (e.g., C:\HEC-5 Installation,D:\HEC-5
Installation,E:\HEC-5 Installation).
- Once
all files have been extracted, run INSTALL.bat through either
the MS DOS Prompt or Windows GUI.
- At
this point INSTALL will lead you through the installation of
the HEC-5 package of programs.

running on Windows XP/2000:
HEC-5
executables, Version 8.0 (1.4MB) (Recompiled on April 26, 2004)
- Install
the Single File Setup for the HEC-5 Program Package (see steps
1-4 above).
- Extract
the Recompiled HEC-5 executables (HEC5A.exe and HEC5B.exe) to
the directory where the HEC-5 package was installed (e.g., C:\HECEXE).
- At
this point, HEC-5 should function on Windows XP/2000.
