HEC-6 has been developed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. However, software developed at the Hydrologic Engineering Center is made available to the public whenever appropriate. Use is not restricted and individuals outside of the Corps of Engineers may use the program without charge. HEC will not provide user assistance or support for this software to non-Corps users. Downloading this software indicates full acceptance of your responsibility in the use of this program. Program Files

(Single File Setup) HEC-6 Program (1,300KB)

  1. From a MS DOS Prompt or Windows GUI, run hec6pkg.exe.
  2. Extract all files to the default folder (C:\HEC-6 Installation) or in the Hard Drive of your choice (e.g., C:\HEC-6 Installation,D:\HEC-6 Installation,E:\HEC-6 Installation).
  3. Once all files have been extracted, run INSTALL.bat through either the MS DOS Prompt or Windows GUI.
  4. At this point INSTALL will lead you through the installation of the HEC-6 package of programs.

Reference Legacy Software Issues running on Windows XP/2000:

HEC-6 executables, Version 4.2 (621KB) (Recompiled on May 6, 2004)

  1. Install the Single File Setup for the HEC-6 Program Package (see steps 1-4 above).
  2. Extract the Recompiled HEC-6 executables (HEC6.exe and TABLE6.exe) to the directory where the HEC-6 package was installed (e.g., C:\HECEXE).
  3. At this point, HEC-6 should function on Windows XP/2000.
