Overview
This effort provides districts with software support for the Corps AIS CWMS program. CWMS is part of WMES, designed with enterprise standards as the base infrastructure is built and managed by the enterprise to perform the USACE Water Management mission. This support includes server-side processes that manage a wide range of "back-end" functions, such as user login authentication, coordination of operations by individual users, connectivity to the CWMS Oracle database and HEC-DSS files, system administrative functions, and numerous automated processes. Maintenance support was provided for automated functions including acquisition of data from a variety of redundant sources, low-level data validation to flag suspicious values, routine calculations such daily average river flows, generating standardized reports such as plots and tables for a district web page, and funneling designated data to national databases supporting public, headquarters Emergency Operations, and other "enterprise" applications.
Accomplishments
In FY23, the CWMS developer test sites continued to be used for critical troubleshooting, allowing the team to vet G6 patches proposed for operating systems and databases, to investigate impacts of database and network security policies, to reproduce and resolve software issues reported by field offices, and to test new CWMS versions. HEC now has three test server zones and copies of the MVS, NAB, and NWO District databases.
HEC staff continued to support district staff on server side related issues, including coordinating with G6 to fix issues related to LDM, server access, server processes, LDAP, database integration, CWMS server application, and any other road blocks that district staff encounter which impact their day to day operations.
HEC staff created, tested and delivered the CWMS 3.3.0 server build to all districts. HEC assisted districts in the implementation of CWMS 3.3.0 and addressed issues as needed.
Field Support and Technology Transfer
HEC staff developed documentation on the implementation of CWMS 3.3.0 to district staff. HEC continues to support district staff in any server-related issues that they encounter.
