HEC-RTS 3.6 introduces the Water Management Toolbox, a new plugin providing regulatory situational awareness within HEC-RTS. The Toolbox is accessible from the Tools menu inside HEC-RTS. For full documentation, refer to the User Manual.
The Impact Response Tool is a core feature of the Water Management Toolbox. It allows water managers to monitor real-time and forecast data against user-defined thresholds and track associated response actions in a structured, two-level table.
Key capabilities include:
- Data Source Integration
- Supports HEC-DSS files and active HEC-RTS forecast runs (Forecast DSS). CDA (CWMS Data API) integration is planned for a future release.
- Threshold Conditions
- Each data source supports multiple configurable conditions using >, >=, <, or <= operators. Each condition allows the capture of a numeric trigger value, a flood impact description, and a required action.
- Alert Status System
- Rows display real-time status:
Does not Exceed Threshold,
Exceeds Threshold,
DSS File Not Found, or 🚫 No Data Available.
- Time Windows
- Four modes: No Window (full series), Specific Date Range, Relative to Current Time (rolling), and By Water Year — enabling both real-time operations and historical validation.
- Threshold Plots
- Each data source row includes a time series plot with threshold reference lines, powered by HEC-DSSVue.
- Portable Configurations
- Configurations export as JSON files, preserving all data sources, conditions, and time-window settings for sharing across teams.
