An HEC-FIA model alternative includes the following components:

This guide will teach you how to create and manage HEC-FIA model alternatives in your HEC-RTS watershed.

Build your HEC-FIA model and its associated alternatives within the HEC-FIA software to ensure correct setup before integrating them into your HEC-RTS watershed.

Importing an HEC-FIA Alternative

To import an HEC-FIA alternative: 

  1. Go to the Setup tab.
  2. Right-click the HEC-FIA icon in the Watershed Tree and select Import.
  3. In the Import Alternatives dialog, click Select/Add Project.

  4. Brows and select the HEC-FIA project file (.prj) you want to import.
  5. Click Open.
  6. In the Import Alternatives dialog, chooser an alternative and click Import Alternatives. 
  7. A confirmation dialog will appear. Click OK.
  8. Click Close, then Save your watershed.

Editing an HEC-FIA Alternative

To edit an alternative:

  1. Go to the Setup tab.
  2. In the Watershed Tree, right-click the HEC-FIA alternative you want to edit and select Alternative.
  3. Make your changes in the Edit Alternative dialog, then click OK to close the dialog.
  4. Save your watershed.

Modifying the Adjusted Price Index

To modify the Adjusted Price Index:

  1. Go to the Setup tab.
  2. In the Watershed Tree, right-click the HEC-FIA alternative you want to edit and select Emergency Planning Zones.
  3. From the Emergency Planning Zone Editor dialog, open the Adjusted Price Index tab and make changes.
  4. Click Apply, then OK to close the dialog.
  5. Save your watershed.

Copying an HEC-FIA Alternative

To copy an alternative:

  1. Go to the Setup tab and launch HEC-FIA.
  2. In the HEC-FIA watershed pane, right-click the HEC-FIA alternative and select Save As.

  3. The Save Alternative As dialog will open.
    1. Enter a new name in the Name field
    2. Optionally, add a Description.
    3. Keep the default Directory.
  4. Click OK. The copied alternative will appear in the editor.
  5. Save your model and close HEC-FIA.
  6. The new alternative will appear in the Watershed Tree.
  7. Save your watershed.

Deleting an HEC-FIA Alternative

To delete an alternative: 

  1. Go to the Setup tab and launch HEC-FIA.
  2. In the watershed pane, right-click the HEC-FIA alternative and select Delete from Study.
  3. In the confirmation dialog, click Yes.
  4. Save your model and close HEC-FIA.
  5. The alternative will be removed from the Watershed Tree.
  6. Save your watershed.
