This guide will walk you through the key tasks involved in managing forecasts within HEC-RTS, including opening, saving, editing, running extracts, and deleting forecasts.

Opening an Existing Forecast

To open a forecast that has already been created:

  1. Go to the Forecast menu and select Open.
  2. In the Open Forecast dialog, choose a forecast from the list and click Open.
  3. The dialog will close, and the selected forecast will load in the Modeling tab.

Saving the Active Forecast

To save the active forecast:

  1. Go to the Forecast menu and select Save.

Editing the Time Window

To edit the time window of the active forecast:

  1. Go to the Forecast menu and select Edit Time Window.

  2. In the Forecast Time Window dialog, adjust the date and time fields as needed.

  3. Click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog.

Adding or Removing Forecast Runs

To add or remove forecast runs:

  1. Go to the Forecast menu and select Run Selector.
  2. In the Forecast Run Selector dialog, check or uncheck the boxes next to each run to include or exclude them.
     
  3. Click OK to save your changes and exit the dialog.

Running Extracts

To run extracts after a forecast has been created:

  1. Select Extract from the Forecast menu.
  2. In the Run Extract dialog, select the extract groups to run by checking or unchecking the boxes.
     
  3. Click Run Now.
  4. The dialog will close, and the progress will display in the Extract tab of the Message Pane.

Deleting a Forecast

To delete an existing forecast: 

  1. From the Forecast menu, select Delete.
  2. In the Delete Forecast dialog, select the forecast you want to remove.

  3. To delete the entire forecast directory, check Delete forecast directory.
    1. If this box is left unchecked, only the reference will be removed from HEC-RTS; files will remain on disk.
  4. Click Delete.

  5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Closing the Active Forecast

To close the active forecast:

  1. Select Close from the Forecast menu.
  2. If there are unsaved changes, you'll be prompted to save them.
  3. The forecast will be closed and removed from the Modeling tab.
