This guide explains how to use the Time Series Icon Tool in the Setup tab to create, rename, move, and delete time series icons within your HEC-RTS watershed.

Accessing the Time Series Icon Tool

Use the Time Series Icon Tool to perform all basic actions related to time series icons. 

To access the tool:

  1. Launch HEC-RTS and load your watershed.
  2. Go to the Setup tab.
  3. In the Map Window Toolbar, select the Time Series Icon Tool.

Creating a Time Series Icon

To create a new icon:

  1. With the Time Series Icon Tool active, hold CTRL and left-click the desired location on the map.
  2. A new time series icon with a default name will appear.
  3. Repeat as needed to add additional icons.

Renaming a Time Series Icon

To rename an icon: 

  1. Right-click the icon with the Time Series Icon Tool active.
  2. Select Rename from the shortcut menu.
  3. In the Rename Time Series Icon dialog:
    1. Enter a new name in the Name field.
    2. (Optionally) Add a description.
  4. Click OK. The updated name will appear on the map.

Moving a Time Series Icon

To reposition an icon:

  1. Right-click the icon with the Time Series Icon Tool active.
  2. Select Move from the shortcut menu. The icon will display black corner handles. 
  3. Click and drag the icon to the new location.
  4. Click anywhere on the map to finalize the new position.

Deleting a Time Series Icon

To remove an icon:

  1. Right-click the icon with the Time Series Icon Tool active.

  2. Select Delete from the shortcut menu.

  3. A confirmation message will appear. Click Yes to permanently remove the icon.
