Enhancing Time Series Icons with Multimedia and Links
You can attach photos, web pages, webcam images, and documents (like reports or spreadsheets) to time series icons. These files become accessible through the icon’s shortcut menu in selected modules, with images displayed directly on the icon.
This guide explains how to configure multimedia for your time series icons in HEC-RTS.
Accessing the Time Series Icon Editor Dialog
To access the dialog:
- Launch HEC-RTS and open your watershed.
- Go to the Setup tab.
- In the Map Window Toolbar, select the Time Series Icon Tool.
- Right-click a time series icon and choose Edit.
- The Time Series Icon Editor dialog will open, displaying the details for the selected icon.

- In the Time Series Icon Editor, select the appropriate icon from the Name dropdown.
- Click the Photo/Images tab.

- To add an image:

- The image file name appears under the Display Name column, and its full path appears under the URL or File Name column.
- Check Separate Frame if you want the image to open in a new window when triggered.
- Set the Width and Height or their ratios. By default, the image displays at its original size.
