If you want to prevent others from uploading changes to specific base or forecast data in the master watershed, you can protect that data. Enabling the Protect flag blocks uploads for the selected data groups, while still allowing team members to download and edit them locally. However, they will not be able to sync any changes back to the master watershed until the protection is removed.

This guide will show you how to protect base and forecast data to restrict uploads, and unprotect data when you're ready to allow updates to the master watershed again.

Protecting Base Data

To protect base data in the master watershed:

  1. Launch HEC-RTS.
  2. Open your local copy of the watershed and go to the Setup tab.
  3. Under the Watershed menu, select Team > Sync to Master Watershed to open the Master Watershed Synchronization dialog.
  4. In the Synchronization Tree, select the data group node you want to protect.
  5. Click Protect.
  6. A Confirm Protection dialog will appear. Click Yes to confirm.

Once complete, the Protect button changes to UnProtect and the Upload button becomes disabled for the protected node.

Protecting Forecast Data

To protect forecast data:

  1. Launch HEC-RTS.
  2. Open your local copy of the watershed and go to the Modeling tab.
  3. Open a team forecast and in the Forecast Tree, select the forecast run or model alternative you want to protect.
  4. Click the Team tab, and then click Protect.
  5. Confirm the action in the Confirm Protection dialog by clicking Yes.

When complete, the Protect button changes to UnProtect and the Upload button becomes disabled for that section.

Unprotecting Data

You can remove protection at any time to restore upload permissions to the master watershed. This process is the same as protecting data - simply follow the steps shown above for either Base Data or Forecast Data, but click UnProtect instead for the group node, forecast run, or model alternative you want to unprotect.
