When other users make updates to the master watershed, you’ll need to synchronize your local copy to stay current. Likewise, after making changes to your local version, you must upload your revisions so they’re available to the rest of the team.

This guide teaches you how to identify which local base data files are up to date, download updated base data from the master watershed, and upload your revised files back to the master watershed for team access.

Accessing the Master Watershed Synchronization Dialog

The Master Watershed Synchronization dialog allows users to synchronize base data between a local watershed and the master watershed. You can use it to check for updates, download the latest data, or upload your changes.

To access the dialog:

  1. Launch HEC-RTS and open your local copy of the watershed.
  2. Click the Setup tab.
  3. From the Watershed menu, go to Team > Sync with Master Watershed.

Downloading Base Data from the Master Watershed

Each node in the Synchronization Tree is color-coded to indicate its status:

  • White - Local and master copies are in sync.
  • Orange - Master has newer data.
  • Yellow - Data has not been uploaded to the master.

You need to download data for any nodes that are orange, as the master watershed has newer data than your local copy.

To download updated base data:

  1. Select the node you want to update from the Synchronization Tree.
  2. Click Download in the Actions box.
  3. In the confirmation dialog, click Yes.
    Download from Master Watershed Dialog
  4. The download will begin.

The dialog will disable during download. A Download tab in the Message Pane will show progress. When finished, you’ll be notified, and the dialog will re-enable.

Uploading Base Data to the Master Watershed

After making revisions to your local copy of the watershed, you will need to upload them to the master watershed so they are available to others working with the watershed.

To upload changes to the master watershed:

  1. From the Synchronization Tree, select the node to upload.
  2. Click Upload in the Actions box.
  3. Enter comments in the prompt and click OK.

The watershed will close temporarily, and the upload will begin. Progress appears in the Upload tab. Once complete, the watershed reopens, and all users are notified of the changes.

Important: If your local version is outdated, you’ll receive an Out of Date warning. You must first download the updated files before uploading your changes.
