Working with Team Forecasts
Team forecasting enables multiple modelers to collaboratively work on the same forecast. Each team member works from a local copy of the master watershed forecast. Changes uploaded to the master can be downloaded and modified by others.
This guide teaches you how to create a new team forecast, retrieve a team forecast from the master watershed, and sync changes with the master watershed.
Creating a Team Forecast
You can create a new forecast using your local copy of the master watershed.
To create a new team forecast:
- Launch HEC-RTS.
- Open the local copy of the team watershed.
- Click the Modeling tab.
- Follow instructions here to create a new forecast.
- In the Forecast Run Details area, select the forecast and click the Team tab.

- Click Upload.
- Enter upload comments and click OK.
The forecast will temporarily close and automatically reopen once the upload is complete. The Team tab will now reflect that it's a team forecast.
Retrieving a Team Forecast
Once a forecast is uploaded to the master watershed, it can be shared with team members.
You cannot retrieve a team forecast if another forecast is open in the Modeling module. Close any open forecasts first.
To download a team forecast:
- Launch HEC-RTS.
- Open your local copy of the team watershed.
- Click the Modeling tab and close any open forecasts.
- Select the Team tab.
- Click Download to open the Choose Forecast to Download dialog.

- In the Existing section, select a forecast and click Download.
- Confirm when prompted. A Download tab will appear in the Message Pane with status updates.
- When complete, click Yes to open the forecast.
Uploading Forecast Changes
Changes made to a local team forecast can be uploaded to the master watershed. Other team members will be notified of updates if they have the forecast open.
You can upload either:
- The entire forecast (all data and model alternatives)
- A single model alternative (only that model alternative and its HEC-DSS records)
Ensure your local forecast status is Current before uploading. This confirms you have the latest version. If your local revision is outdated, you'll be prompted to download the latest version first.
To upload the changes:
- Launch HEC-RTS.
- Open your local copy of the watershed and go to the Modeling tab.
- In the Forecast menu, open a team forecast.
- In the Forecast Run Details, select a model alternative.
- In the Actions box, click Upload.

- Enter comments and click OK to start the upload.
- To upload all data for the forecast, check Upload All Files in the dialog.
- The forecast will close and the upload status will display in the Message Pane.
- When the upload is complete, the forecast will reopen.
Uploading Via Copy Model Changes Dialog
When closing a forecast with unsaved changes:
- A Copy Model Changes dialog will appear asking you to sync your changes.
- Select the model alternatives to sync.
- Check Sync to Master Forecast and enter comments for each upload.
- Click OK to start the upload.
- The upload status will display in the Message Pane.
