You can manage multiple Dashboard Configurations for better organization, each accessible from the dropdown menu in the ribbon at the top of the window.
This guide explains how to create and customize Dashboard configurations to help streamline your forecasting workflow in HEC-RTS.
Step 1: Open the Dashboard
To open the Dashboard:
- Launch HEC-RTS and open a watershed.
- Go to the Modeling tab and open an existing forecast or create a new one.
- Select a forecast alternative.
- Go to the Actions tab and click Open CAVI Dashboard.

The Dashboard will open, displaying the message: Please create a configuration to begin.

Step 2: Create a New Dashboard Configuration
To get started:
- In the Dashboard, open to the File menu and select New Configuration.
- Enter a name for the configuration in the dialog box and click OK.

The new configuration will now appear in the toolbar dropdown menu.
To customize your configuration:
- Go to the File menu and select Add Widget.

- Choose the widget type you want to add.
- You can add multiple widgets without closing the menu.
- Click outside the menu when finished.
The new widgets will appear as individual tabs in the window.
Refer to the Customizing Dashboard Widgets guide to learn more.
By default, widgets appear as individual tabs when you add them to the Dashboard. You can rearrange the order of the tabs or display multiple panels simultaneously in one tab to enhance productivity.
To adjust widget placement:
- Grab the tab you want to move.
- Drag it to a new location and release the mouse.

The toolbar provides quick access to common actions, such as:
- Adding widgets
- Saving the current configuration
- Refreshing data
- Navigating through configurations
- Locking/unlocking the Dashboard

To customize the toolbar:
- Right-click on any empty space in the toolbar and select Customize.
- In the Customize Toolbars dialog, click New Toolbar at the bottom-left.

- Name your toolbar and drag desired actions from the list into it.
- Create and arrange multiple toolbars as needed to fit your workflow.
Custom toolbars can be moved freely within the main window for the best layout and ease of use.
Step 6: Finalize your Configuration
Once your configuration is set up, you can control access to the Dashboard using Lock and Edit modes:
- These options are available under the Edit menu.
- For convenience, shortcut icons are also located in the toolbar.
Lock Dashboard disables the ability to edit, move, or delete widgets, ensuring the layout remains fixed.
Edit Mode restores full editing capabilities, allowing you to modify, reposition, or remove widgets as needed.
