The team will continue advancing the CWMS Cloud Migration MVP Plan, focusing on cloud deployment and moving toward the optimization phase within the CWBI AWS cloud environment.
LDM Planned Activities
| Activity | Funded Amount | Delivery Date |
|---|
Maintain LDM Web Application | $30,000 (labor) | |
| Develop Tools to Process Data | $35,000 (labor) | |
| Update Documentation and Training Materials | $15,000 (labor) | |
Maintain LDM Web Application
The team will support and assist in maintaining the deployment of the LDM web application within the CWBI environment.
The team will develop, implement, and maintain tools for ingesting and creating SHEF products. This work will include integrating the tools with LDM to ingest data files from and send files to the National Weather Service.
Development of Documentation and Training Materials
The team will develop documentation and training materials to assist district staff in utilizing the LDM tools for both data processing and data dissemination.
| Activity | Funded Amount | Delivery Date |
|---|
| Integrate Services into Prometheus and Grafana | $10,000 (labor) | |
| Develop Documentation and Training Materials | | |
Integrate Services into Prometheus and Grafana
The team will develop a centralized monitoring service for all CWMS services within CWBI, utilizing open-source tools such as the Prometheus monitoring system and the Grafana analytics and visualization platform.
Develop Documentation and Training Materials
The team will develop administrative documentation, especially for onboarding new team members.
CWBI Deployment Planned Activities
| Activity | Funded Amount | Delivery Date |
|---|
| Contracting Fees for Deployment Assistance | $50,000 (contract) | |
| Technical Support and Tech Transfer | $40,000 (labor) | |
Contracting Fees for Deployment Assistance
A contractor provides support for deploying services to CWBI’s production environment. Funding is needed to cover contractor labor for deploying new services—especially the CWMS monitoring service—across DEV, TEST, and PROD environments.
CRREL staff will provide technical support and tech transfer to the HEC and national team members on CWBI production deployments of LDM, OpenDCS, CDA, and Cumulus.
Cloud Compute Planned Activities
| Activity | Funded Amount | Delivery Date |
|---|
HEC-FIA Cloud Compute Plugin Development | $10,000 (labor) |
|
| Hybrid Multi-Cloud Support and Refined Workflows | $70,000 (contract) | |
| Automated Computes | | |
HEC-FIA Cloud Compute Plugin Development
The team will develop a cloud compute plugin for HEC-FIA to add to the available suite of HEC plugins under the USACE Cloud Compute project.
Hybrid Multi-Cloud Support and Refined Workflows
The team will refine workflows for executing, monitoring, and managing cloud computations. They will also coordinate with CWBI to implement authentication and permission levels. Additionally, the team will assess the requirements and costs of using l alongside multiple cloud providers to support critical operations, comparing these against the needs of water management activities. This assessment will include development and testing, culminating in a summary report with findings and final recommendations.
Automated Computes
The team will develop and test tools and procedures for scheduling and managing automated computations. Additionally, they will evaluate Hybrid Cloud options and associated costs to support the daily automated generation of forecasts.
