A significant portion of the proposed work in FY24 will be completed under contract. The contracted activities for HEC-MetVue include:
Cumulus Integration
This will provide users with ad-hoc download capabilities.
Implementing Time Series Based Edits
This will provide much more flexibility in editing single or multiple grids.
Implementing Edits Tracking Tool
This will help users track any sequence of edits and types of adjustments applied to gridded datasets.
Implementing Zonal Editor
This will provide more convenient application of edit to regions within the spatial extents of a dataset.
Creating Zones from Polygons
This will provide map and editor based capability for users to define zones using watershed basin shapefiles.
Various Improvements to the HEC-MetVue Gridded Dataset Merge Tool
This will allow users to combine a variety of forecast products, from 2-day outlook products such as the 15min or hourly HRRR to 7-day and 16-day outlook products, such as the standard 6-hourly WPC and NAEFS QPFs.
Integration of the HEC-MetVue standalone Gridded Dataset Merge Tool in the CAVI
Separating GUI Code from Compute and Utility Packages
This will advance the code refactoring for HEC-MetVue for better development process going forward as well as provide a foundation for HEC-MetVue automated cloud compute.
Adding Functions to MetCalculator
This will provide much more flexibility for dataset manipulations through mathematical and logic based operations.
Developing a GUI for MetCalculator
This will provide a convenient interface for users to build MetCalculator scripts.
Creating Additional Functions for Image Snapshot Tool
This will provide more options for users to dress up output images from HEC-MetVue.
The team plans on releasing HEC-MetVue version 3.2 in Q1 of FY24 and version 3.3 by the end of FY24. There is a directive for all districts to migrate to HEC-MetVue by March 31, 2024 because MFP is being decommissioned. Due to this deadline, the team will focus activities on technology transfer and assisting districts in migrating their watersheds to use HEC-MetVue. The team will also concentrate on maintenance and bug fixes as they appear. A contract will also be awarded in FY24 to develop new enhancements to HEC-MetVue.
