The approved CWMS "Other" Budget is $2,875,000 for FY24. As with the ERC funds, the "Other" budget can be split into two categories: Sustainment and Development. Most of the "Other" budget for FY24 is allocated to the Development (enhancements) category.
While CWMS is authorized to expend up to this budget, the funding received from other sources may be less. The other funds that come from various sources continue to have profound impacts in terms of the development and implementation of CWMS and related software. Contributors identified so far for FY24 are the CWMS NIP, Head Quarters Ensemble funding, and WMIST.
MMC CWMS National Implementation Program
The MMC is providing $750,000 for software development in FY24. That funding will be divided between different CWMS components. HEC will also receive a portion of funds to support the HEC-FIA Flood Damages Reduced effort, which was in addition to the $750,000 for software development and support. The CWMS components that will use MMC funds are listed below.
MMC FY24 Funds
CWMS Component | Budget |
| HEC-FIA | $170,000 |
| HEC-ResSim | $300,000 |
| HEC-HMS | $150,000 |
| HEC-RAS | $120,000 |
| CAVI | $180,000 |
TOTAL | $920,000 |
Head Quarters Ensemble Funding
Head Quarters provided funding to operationalize use of ensembles in CWMS. Ensembles include flow time-series from River Forecast Centers and application of the many meteorologic, both deterministic and ensemble, datasets that are available to the public. HEC software development teams developed products and schedules to execute the $545,000 targeted at operationalizing flow and meteorologic ensembles in CWMS.
WMIST
Funding from WMIST for FY24 is uncertain at this time.
