A major effort of the team will be the release of HEC-FIA 3.4 later this year, which includes testing and bug fixes. A key feature of HEC-FIA 3.4 will be the ability to calculate agricultural flood damages reduced. Other activities will focus on updating documentation for the Annual Flood Damages Reduced (AFDR) Standard Operating Procedures and the HEC-FIA User's Manual once the new version of HEC-FIA is released.
Lastly, the team will be working with water managers and economists across USACE to host a Flood Damages Reduced Workshop in November 2023 at the Kansas City District office. Time will be spent developing the materials and traveling to the workshop to help attendees learn how to use CWMS to compute AFDR. This effort is important, as it will help districts transition from legacy methods to CWMS models for computing damages reduced, an essential requirement for districts to become "fully implemented" according to the definition set forth by HQ.
