Here are the steps for importing time series and paired data records from Excel to DSS:

1. Create or open an existing DSS file.

2. Go to Data Entry > Import > Excel Import (Beta).

3. Select an Excel file that has DSS data.

Time Series

4. Select the appropriate record type for the data that's being imported.

5. Select a range of dates without having any missing cells/data.

6. Select one or several ranges of data without having any missing cells/data.

7. For each column of values, enter at least one pathname part (e.g. the cell with "part-a" written will be the A part for this time series record) and optionally type the units and data type for each value column.

8. Click on the Import button. Assuming the pathname parts are valid, and both the dates and values don't have any missing cells/data, an Import Success dialog will display. Otherwise, an error will be displayed saying why the import failed.

9. After clicking Import, the import window will close and DSSVue will display an Import Status dialog.

Paired Data

4. Select the appropriate record type for the data that's being imported.

5. Select a range of ordinates without having any missing cells/data.

6. Select one or several ranges of data without having any missing cells/data.

7. For the first value column, enter at least one pathname part (e.g. the cell with "part-a" written will be the A part for this paired data record) and optionally type the units and data types in the first value column.

8. Click on the Import button. Assuming the pathname parts are valid, and both the ordinates and values don't have any missing cells/data, an Import Success dialog will display. Otherwise, an error will be displayed saying why the import failed.

9. After clicking Import, the import window will close and DSSVue will display an Import Status dialog.
