This is a non-exhaustive list of known issues in the RAS 2025 Alpha. We will remove items as they get fixed, so keep an eye on the Release Notes page ... We generally will only put bug reports here if we are able to reproduce the issue internally,  For example we will not use this page to document missing or partially completed features.

Major Issues

Major issues are any that may cause crashes, data loss, or strong disruptions to workflow.

Error using exported mesh in RAS 6.6

There are a variety of errors associated with importing and running RAS 2025 meshes in version 6.6 models. Some of these have been identified as model instability in 6.6 (unrelated to the 2025 mesh).

Can't import mesh or run model

All known mesh export issues have been fixed as of v0.1.0.1822. If you're still experiencing issues after updating, please report it as a new bug.

Generated Mesh incompatible with RAS 6.6 (too many cells around a facepoint)

In RAS 6.6, there is a limit of 8 cells around a single facepoint/node. The RAS 2025 mesh generator can create meshes that exceed this limit.

Can't use 2025 mesh in v6
  • Massage mesh to improve mesh quality in those areas.
  • Wait for RAS 6.7

This limit has been lifted for RAS 6.7 Beta 4 (release pending).

We're looking to reduce the number of situations where 2025 can create meshes with this issue.

Minor Issues

Minor issues are generally UI errors and annoyances, or issues with simple workarounds.

Ongoing Issues

Ongoing or persistent issues may be a confluence of multiple bugs, or bugs in underlying software that we don't directly control. We'll try to keep you updated with known workarounds or mitigations, but

Updater/Installation cannot copy filesWhen updating RAS, the installer may warn about issues copying files. The installer may partially succeed, leaving the installation in a corrupted state.Prevents updating, may corrupt installation
  • Try to kill the process Ras.Interface.WinUI.exe
  • Restart computer
We've noticed a few crashes that occur deep in the Windows UI stack that can cause zombie processes to hang around, particularly when 3rd party anti-virus software is on the machine. We're continuing to investigate this and will update with known workarounds or fixes.
Instability running from network drivesWhen running RAS from a non-rooted drive (e.g. \\share\path), various disk functions do not work correctly. We're working to address this.Disk load/store corruption
  • Install RAS in a rooted drive, e.g. under C:\

Instability running as AdministratorWhen running RAS as an elevated user (administrator), some operating-system interactions (like opening a file dialog) will cause the software to crash.Crash
  • Launch as a non-elevated user.

Instability running with Unicode characters in PathWhen running a RAS project with Unicode characters in the path (e.g. "Ö"), our underlying file storage system (HDF5) does not handle it well. We're investigating workarounds.Disk load/store corruption
  • Move project to new drive location
