The Color Scale Editor allows for specification of the Scale Definition, Color Palette, and how the Color Palette Levels are attached to the Scale Definition classes. Developing a Color Scale starts with the either clicking the "New...", "Copy..." or selecting the existing scale to edit in the Color Scale drop-down menu. Once a Color Scale is created or selected for edit, the next step is selecting the Color Palette, and the Scale Definition type (Auto Scale or Explicit). If Auto Scale is selected, then the Scale Limits, Distribution Controls and Binding Rule must be set to define the Color Scale bins. Alternatively, Explicit scales require the user to build the Scale in the table (see Editing Color Scale Table). Once a Scale is defined, the user may choose to refine the Color Palette Levels used in each row. After refining the Color Palette levels in the table, the resulting Color Palette can be saved for future use. Once the user has developed the Color Scale to the desired specifications, the Apply button can be clicked to update the Map Layers with the new Color Scale settings.

1Color Scale selection drop-down box.  Default Color Scales are displayed in bold text and can only be copied to adapt from to create new user-specified Color Scales. 
2New Color Scale button: Creates a new blank Color Scale, with a user-specified name.
3Copy Color Scale button:  Allows for generating a new Color Scale by copying an existing Color Scale.
4Rename Color Scale button:  Allows for renaming an existing Color Scale.

Scale Settings
6Auto Scale checkbox:  Allows switching between Auto Scale and Explicit Definition of the Color Scale.
7Minimum value field:  Allows for specifying the Minimum Scale Limit
8Infer minimum value checkbox:  When checked, the Minimum Scale Limit will be determined as the minimum value from the data.
9Increment field:  Allows for specifying the increment of the Scale. This is only compatible with a linear distribution.
10Infer increment checkbox:  When checked, increment will be computed as the difference between the Maximum and Minimum Limits divided by the Number of Classes.
11Maximum value field:  Allows for specifying the Maximum Scale Limit.
12Infer maximum value checkbox:  When checked, the Maximum Scale Limit will be determined as the maximum value from the data.
13Scale distribution type when using Auto Scale: The options are either Linear or Log, which are explained further in Color Scales.
14Number of Classes or Number Per Cycle field:  When using a linear distribution, the Number of Classes can be specified. When using a Logarithmic distribution, the Number of Classes per Cycle can be specified.
15Use Global Transparency checkbox:  Checking this box enables the use of the Global Transparency field.
16Global Transparency field:  When enabled, this field allows for selecting a transparency percent that will apply to all Color Palette Levels.  When not enabled, a Transparency column will show up up in the Color Scale Table for individual specification of the percent transparency per row.
17Over Max checkbox:  Checking this box enables the rendering of the Over Max Color Palette Level when the specified Maximum Scale Limit is lower than highest value in the data.
18Over Max button: Clicking this button will launch a color selector. This color in this button corresponds to the color in the top row in the Color Scale table.
19Under Min checkbox:  Checking this box enables the rendering of the Under Min Color Palette Level, when the specified Minimum Scale Limit is higher than lowest value in the data.
20Under Min button: Clicking this button will launch a color selector. This color in this button corresponds to the color in the bottom row in the Color Scale table.
Scale Table
21Upper value column in the Color Scale table:  Cells in this column contain the upper value of the Scale Class associated with that row. This column is only visible when using Explicit scales.
22Color selection column:  In this column, colors can be specified through the Color Selector (launched with the "..." button), pasting colors, or filling colors (linear between two colors or repeating).
23Hex code for the color in this row.
24Value for the red component of the RGB code in this row.
25Value for the green component of the RGB code in this row.
26Value for the blue component of the RGB code in this row.
27Reverse Colors button:  Allows for reversing the order of colors in the table.
28Show Hex checkbox:  Controls the visibility of the Hex column.

30Color Palette Selector button:  Brings up a Palette Selector dialog to choose an existing Color Palette.

Color Palette Style
37Shade Contours checkbox:  Contours can be shaded or drawn as lines or both. Note that for any contour interval, the shade color and the line color must be the same, although a combination of patterns and line styles with background and foreground colors can be used for additional effects.
38Outline Contours checkbox:  Draws lines at the intervals defined by the selected scale.  Uses the transparency settings of the Color Palette Levels unless the next options is checked to ignore transparency.

Ignore Transparency For Outlines checkbox: Draws the the Contour Lines without transparency, ignoring the transparency settings used by the Color Palette Levels.

Use Same Values for all Palette Levels checkbox:  Sets the same Line Style, Line Width, Transparency, and Fill Patterns across all Color Palette Levels.

41Line Style selection box:  Provides a list of Line Styles to use for each Color Palette Level, or across all Color Palette Levels if the option to "Use Same Values for all Palette Levels" is checked.
42Line Width spin box:  Allows for incrementing or decrementing the Line Width for each Color Palette Level, or across all Color Palette Levels if the option to "Use Same Values for all Palette Levels" is checked.

Line Background is Transparent Checkbox: Allows for setting full transparency of the spaces in dashed or dashed and dotted lines.  A separate setting can be applied to any selected Color Palette Level unless the option to "Use Same Values for all Palette Levels" is checked.

Fill Pattern selection box: Provides a list of Fill Patterns to use for each Color Palette Level, or across all Color Palette Levels if the option to "Use Same Values for all Palette Levels" is checked.

Legend Preview
45Legend Preview:  Previews the legend given the settings in the Color Scale table. When both the Minimum and Maximum Scale Limits are specified (i.e. not set to be inferred), the Legend Preview will also show the upper values of each class.
Editor Actions

OK button:  Saves the changes made in the Color Scale Editor, closes the editor, and triggers a redraw of the Map Windows associated with the edited Color Scale.
