The Dynamic Time Window Scanning has interactive controls for the viewed time window. The viewed time window can be controlled either by specifying the start/end date in the fields provided, stepping forward/backward with the provided buttons, or with the dynamic time window slider. The start/end date fields provide the ability to jump the start or end date to any time within the full data time window. The step forward/backward buttons move the viewed time window forward/backward by the selected step increment. Finally, the user can interact with the time window by dragging components in the dynamic time window slider.

Within the dynamic time window slider, there is a highlighted range and a handle on each edge.  The figure below shows the starting state of the dynamic time window slider when viewing hourly data. Initially, the first hour of data will be displayed in the Map Window.

After data is loaded, the user can drag the right handle to change the end date, as shown in the figure below. Note that when the right handle is dragged to the right, it shifts the end date.  In this example, dragging the right handles shifts the end date from June 5th 2001 00:00 to June 5th 2001 15:00. This leads expands the viewed time window from 1Hour to 16Hours.

In addition to dragging a handle, the user can drag the viewed time window with the mouse in the highlighted portion of the slider, which is between the start and end date handles, as shown below.  For example, from the previous image to the following image, the viewed time window is dragged from June 4th 2001 23:00-June 5th 2001 15:00 to June 5th 2001 03:00-June 5th 2001 1900.

Similar to the end date handle, the start date handle can be dragged to widen or narrow the viewed time window. This is shown in the image below, where the start time of the viewed time window is shifted from June 5th 2001 03:00 to June 5th 2001 12:00.
