MetInterp Gage settings allows for specification of the points that define the observation points. These points fall into two categories: Time Series Points and Aggregate Value Points. Time Series Points are points associated with a DSS time series record. These points get their coordinates (lat/lon) from the associated DSS record. Aggregate Value Points are points that have a single value. This is intended for use as a storm total, as is common with recording of historical storms. In order to convert this single value to a time series, a temporal pattern can be specified to disaggregate the point to a time series. Note that since this is intended to be a storm total, the disaggregation is performed with the intent of preserving precipitation mass, and therefore is not applicable to instantaneous or average data (i.e. temperature). The components of this tab are described in the figure and table below.

Item

Description

1Add DSS time series button. launches a DSS record selection window to select time series from a DSS file.
2Remove the selected time series from the table. Note that this can also be performed by right-clicking on the point in the Map Window, and selecting "Delete Point..."
3Plot all time series from all entries in both the Time Series Points and Aggregate Value Points tables.
4Time Series Points table. In this table, the Is Active, Gage Name, elevation and radius of influence are directly editable in the table, and the plot button will bring up a window to display the time series for that point.
5Add aggregate value point. Note that these points can also be added by right clicking on the map window at the point location, and selecting "Add Point..."
6Remove selected point in the table. Note that this can also be performed by right-clicking on the point in the Map Window, and selecting "Delete Point..."
7Aggregate Value Points table. In this table, the Is Active, Gage Name, X, Y, elevation, radius of influence, value and temporal pattern are directly editable in the table, and the plot button will bring up a window to display the resulting time series after applying the transformation pattern.
