They are meant to allow flexibility in organizing work. It may be important to one individual to have different sessions for different geographic areas. Another person may wish to have different sessions for different storm events. While a third person may have different sessions with different display attributes with differing attribute sets for making presentations or printouts that require different output line styles and colors.
Below is an example of a Session organization for a Real-Time Forecasting project in Northern California. In this project, there is a separate Session for the American and Russian Rivers. This allows for separate review and editing of data for each watershed, as each watershed has distinctly different hydro-meteorological conditions.
