When the Dynamic Time Window Scanning Toolbar is first displayed, it will be shown in the disabled state and docked at the bottom of the Session Window. All controls are disabled, with the exception of the Animation and Dynamic Data Scanning enable checkbox(1), the Dynamic Time Window Map Window Selector(16), and the Undock button(18), as shown in the figure below.

The Dynamic Time Window Map Window Selector(16) allows the user to select a single Map Window, or all Map Windows to animate.  Checking the Dynamic Time Window Scanning enable checkbox(1), locks in the selection (disabling the Selector) and enables the Dynamic Time Window Scanning Toolbar components.  Then, if necessary, background loading of images will start (see Processing Data for Dynamic Time Window Scanning).  When the user selects "All Maps", the display is synchronized across all active Map Windows. This application is particularly useful when viewing the progression of a storm across multiple data types (i.e. precipitation and temperature).

The figure below displays the enabled Dynamic Time Window Scanning Toolbar:

The figure below displays the Undocked enabled Dynamic Time Window Scanning Toolbar:

Animation and Dynamic Data Scanning enable checkbox.  Check this box to lock the Dynamic Time Window Map Window Selector(16), enable the Dynamic Time Window Scanning interactive controls, and begin setup for dynamic data viewing.
Animation Type Selector.  Select animation type, options are: Time Window (moves entire time window), Start Date (keeps End Date fixed and moves Start Date), and End Date (keeps Start Date fixed and moves End Date).
Play button.  Start animating data.
Pause button.  When animation is playing, this will pause the animation and enable the Step Forward and Step Backward buttons.
Stop button.  When animation is playing, this will stop the animation and return the data to the first time step.
Step back button.  Steps back the viewed time window by the step increment amount.
Dynamic Time Window slider controls.  Slider handles allow the user to manipulate the date range from within the time window slider. See Interacting with the Dynamic Time Window Controls for more details.
Dynamic Time Window slider range.  The Date Range bar the Dynamic Time Window Slider Controls move across during animation.
Step forward button.  Steps forward the viewed time window by the step increment amount.
Start date.  The user selected start date and time of the viewed time window.
End date.  The user selected end date and time of the viewed time window.
Step increment amount.  Controls how much the animation advances per step when animation is playing or by using the Step Forward/Backward buttons. For example, to find the largest 24-hour total from hourly data, set a 24-hour window with a 1-hour step to move hour by hour.
Step increment units.  Options vary with Map Window Selection.  For example, if the all images are of hourly duration or longer, "Minutes" will not be an option.
Frame rate.  The rate at which the slider steps forward when animating, and therefore how fast images change in the Map Window(s).
Buffering status message.  See Image caching with Raster Data.
Dynamic Time Window Map Window Selector.  User can select a single active Map Window or All active Map Windows in the active Session to animate.  The selection of a single Map Window can also be made by clicking on the Map Window of choice in the Session Window, this choice will be reflected in the Map Window Selector.  The selector is only enabled when the Animation and Dynamic Data Scanning enable checkbox(1) is unchecked.
Missing data.  The red line indicates missing data in that time frame.
Undock button.  Pops out the Dynamic Time Window Scanning Toolbar from the Session Window, allowing the user to move the toolbar around.
Dock button.  Locks the Dynamic Time Window Scanning Toolbar back in the Session Window.
