The *.dbf file associated with a shapefile holds attributes for each element in that shapefile. HEC-MetVue provide a utility to edit the attributes in that *.dbf file. That editor can be accessed by right-clicking a map file, and selecting the "Edit DBF file" option shown below.

Below is the DBF File Editor. This editor holds a table with the contents of the *.dbf file.  Within this table, the contents can be viewed and edited. A description of the features is described in the table below.

2The "Add New Column" option in the right-click menu allows for adding new columns in the *.dbf file.
3The "Remove Column 'Name'" option in the right-click menu allows for removing the column named 'Name' in the *.dbf file.
4The "Make all columns this width'" option in the right-click menu sets the widths of all columns to match the currently selected column.
5The OK button applies the changes to the *.dbf file.
6The Cancel button cancels the changes, leaving the *.df file unchanged.
