Interacting with the Dynamic Time Window Controls
When the Animation and Dynamic Data Scanning enable checkbox is checked, the selected Map Window(s) become locked, and the Dynamic Time Window Scanning interactive controls are enabled.
The viewed time window can be adjusted in three ways:
Date Range Start/End Date Fields: Provide the ability to jump the start and/or end date directly to any time within the full data time window with a pop out Select Date & Time window as seen below.
Step Forward/Backward Buttons: Move the viewed time window by the selected step increment.
Dynamic Time Window Slider: The blue Slider has a highlighted range with a handle on each edge signifying the start and end date of the viewed time window.
The figure below shows the start state of the Dynamic Time Window Slider when viewing daily data. Initially, the first day (24 hours) of data will be displayed in the Map Window(s).
After data is loaded, the user can drag the Slider components and interactively adjust the time window.
The End Date Handle (right handle), can be dragged left or right to widen or narrow the viewed time window, as shown in the figure below. In this example, the End Date Handle is dragged to the right, shifting the end date from March 01, 2024 06:00 to March 04, 2024 06:00. This expands the viewed time window from one day to four days.
The user can also drag the entire viewed time window with the mouse by grabbing the highlighted portion of the slider between the start and end date handles, as shown in the figure below. For example, from the previous figure to the one below, the viewed time window stays the same length, but is dragged forward six days; from February 29, 2024 06:00 - March 04, 2024 06:00 to March 06, 2024 06:00 - March 10, 2024 06:00.
The Start Date Handle (left handle), can also be dragged left or right to widen or narrow the viewed time window, as shown in the figure below. In this example, the Start Date Handle is dragged to the right, shifting the start time of the viewed time window from March 06, 2024 06:00 to March 08, 2024 06:00. This narrows the viewed time window from four days to two days.
