The suspended-load adaptation coefficient αs may be related to the near-bed sediment concentration cb by cb = αsCs where Cs is the depth-averaged suspended sediment concentration. Since it is not reasonable for the near-bed concentration to be larger than the bed concentration, it follows that the adapatation coefficient should be limited as

1) \hat{α}_{sk} = \min (α_{sk},ρ_{dk}/C_{sk})

where

ρ_{dk} : user-sepcified dry bulk density [M/L3]

C_{sk} : suspended sediment mass concentration [M/L3]
