HEC-RAS 6.0 has been released! Happy modeling!

Thank you for testing HEC-RAS 6.0 Beta.

Problems with the current beta release (Beta 3) of HEC-RAS 6.0 are listed below. A list of issues fixed can be found here: HEC-RAS Issues Fixed for 6.0 Beta 3.pdf

If you are experiencing a problem not listed here and would like to submit a bug report, please email hec.ras@usace.army.mil with a detailed description of the problem.

Beta 3 released.

HEC-RAS 6.0 Beta 3

IssueDescriptionStatus 1 2
Toffaleti-MPM transport function bugThe joint, Toffaleti-MPM transport function has included a bug causing significant transport capacity errors (in most 6.0 beta versions).  This was fixed in the final 6.0 release.

RESOLVED

Sediment Hiding FunctionsSeveral of the new hiding functions were not working with 1D sediment transport in the 6.0 beta releases.  These were fixed for the final 6.0 release.  However, they were fixed very close to the final release and have not been thoroughly tested.  So hiding is Beta for 1D models in 6.0.  We will remove the Beta tag in 6.0.1.

RESOLVED(Beta)

Improvements to the 1D Sediment Results Plotter

We made additional improvements to the new 1D sediment plotter.  This tool should completely supersede the legacy visualization tools which will be removed from future versions.  These include:

  • Fixed the topology of multi-reach plots so reach results plot correctly in profile relative to each other
  • Improved performance (large results files plot faster)
  • Added XS ID to the table and hover label
  • Added bank stations, WSE, and movable bed limits to the XS plots
  • A rating curve visualization option that plots variables at a XS against other variables for all time
  • Monochromatic and multi-color visualization modes for results at different times/locations
  • More options to customize variable colors (and improved default color schemes - plus the option to use the default RAS color ram)
  • Color ramps for grain class visualizations
  • Longitudinal Cumulative Results summed across reach junctions (optional)
  • Simplified "Bobber" text

RESOLVED

Terrain ExportExport of RAS Terrains was resulting in a 1/2 cell shift which resulted in a smoothed terrain surface.

RESOLVED

Lateral Structure Connected to 2D Flow Area - Flow ErrorA new bug came in that seems to be rare.  However, a lateral structures connected from a 1D river reach to a 2D Flow Area was producing a negative flow (Flow from the 2D area to the 1D River), even though the 2D area had no water in it.  This problem was traced down to a compiler change made between version 6.0 Beta 2 and Beta 3.  The problems was fixed and will be in the final release version.

RESOLVED

3D Viewer Terrain Modification Clip IssueIf the user makes a Terrain Modification that is significantly higher than the highest point in the terrain, the user may experience the modification being clipped when getting near the modification in the 3D Viewer.

RESOLVED

Bulking-Only Interface/Non-Newtonian Method Selection

We changed the way users select the "bulking only" approach.  Instead of selecting "Bulking Only" as a method, users now select "Newtonian" and then set the Cv and choose "Bulking" in the bulking method below.

This changed the indexing from the drop down box, so it will impact the backward compatibility of the non-Newtonian editor.  Users will have to go in and re-select their non-Newtonian methods

IN PROGRESS

Precipitation and Wind Force with 1D ModelingUsing spatial precipitation and wind forces at the same time with 1D river reach modeling.  This was fixed for the 1D Finite Difference method, but is still an issue for the 1D Finite Volume solution methodology.

RESOLVED

Plotting From Unsteady Flow Boundary condition TablesWe are moving to a new hydrograph plotting capability.  Several of the Boundary Condition Options in the Unsteady Flow Data editor will not allow the user to plot the data.  This is a known issue and will be fixed before the final HEC-RAS 6.0 Release.

IN PROGRESS

Context Specific Help for Sediment and Mud/Debris FlowPress F1 on the sediment and mud and debris screens and HEC-RAS will take you to the appropriate page of the appropriate pdf manual

RESOLVED

van Rijn Settling Function Bugfixed a bug in the van Rijn Setting Function

RESOLVED

Multiple Variable Sediment Rating Curve PlotterThe new sediment plotter now plots one or more dependent variables against any selected independent variable

RESOLVED

GDAL Conflict when Opening RAS Mapper"Error initializing the GDAL path variables. Please check HEC-RAS installation" error message is displayed when attempting to open RAS Mapper. View Discussion

1 RESOLVED issues are fixed and will be available in the next release.
2 IN PROGRESS  issues are currently being worked on.
