HEC-RAS 7.0.2 is a bug-fix version. It has been released to fix bugs found with the release of version 7.0/7.0.1.

Miscellaneous Improvements

A summary of the primary improvements and bug fixes are listed below.  A complete list of bug fixes and can be found on the Resolved Issues page.

  • Updated Fortran compiler - Fortran compiler updated to IFX 2026.1 and MKL 2026.1.
    • 1D speed improvements -  up to 30% speed improvement for 1D unsteady flow models and structures.
    • 2D speed improvements - fixed a ~15% slowdown in 7.0.1 caused by a change in MKL's default settings.
    • Pipe Network speed improvements - 20% improvement for single network models, up to 3x improvement for multi-network models
  • Fixed a number of memory issues that could cause some models to crash or go unstable.
  • Fixed a number of memory leaks impacting longer runs with many structures.
  • Bridge Scour Tool (Beta) - the 2D Bridge Scour tool was update to handle SI units and abutment scour.
  • DL Breach - updated to work with adapted timesteps, internal friction, and SI grain sizes.
  • Culverts and Gates - fixed issue with non-georefenced structures and using the energy grade line for computations.
  • RAS Mapper - merging terrain priority was fixed.
  • RAS Mapper - elevation update of cross cross sections for left overbanks was fixed.
  • See more on the Resolved Issues page.

Pipe Network Improvements

A summary of the Pipe Network specific improvements are listed below. In addition a complete list of bug fixes can be found on the Resolved Issues page.

Parallel Pipe Network Computes

Significant computational speed improvements (up to 3x faster) for models utilizing multiple pipe networks (System Names) which are now run in parallel. To utilize this feature, turn on the new option in Pipe Systems tab Computational Options window.

In order to help user's leverage the parallel computes, new tools are available in RAS Mapper to split single up single networks into multiple networks. Split Networks by Connectivity... allows a user to enter the number of desired pipe networks, and the tool splits up the existing networks to achieve that number.

In addition users can select All Conduits in RAS Mapper and edit the System Names manually.

Pipe Exit Velocity Momentum for SWE.

The exit velocity of flow from pipe networks onto a 2D surface is now accounted for when using the shallow water equations for the receiving 2D Area. This feature can be be toggled per pipe network in the Pipe Systems Tab of the Computation Options and Tolerances window.

New Node Surcharge Ratio Result Map

A new node surcharge results map is available for Pipe Networks. Similar to the existing Conduit Surcharge Layer, the node surcharge layer shows the ratio of the HGL to the height of the node. It can be used to quickly tell where nodes are surcharging onto the surface.

Pipe Network Timestep and Iteration Output

The Stage and Flow Hydrograph plotter now has a Pipe Networks Node Type that displays the timestep and total iterations for each pipe network throughout the simulation.

Other Pipe Network Improvevments

  • Improved handling of plunging flows, particularly supercritical plunges
  • Improve handling of junction losses for single ace conduits
  • Inlet rating curves now plotted against surface stage instead of node stage
  • Profile plot rendering improvements at terminal nodes, plunging nodes
  • Coordinated Plot conduit selection improvements
  • Improved attribute Table loading and editing speed optimizations for large networks.
  • Increased character limit to 64 for nodes and conduits.
  • Improved error checking of pipe network data in RAS Mapper.
