Water management sites have existed for decades since the early days of the dot com bubble.
The paths both our staff and external staff have grown accustomed too have been long established.
With the migration to a new cloud platform and subsequently a new domain on
https://water.usace.army.mil
We have the opportunity to agree across the enterprise on how we might go about naming and otherwise routing our users on our new websites.
For the sake of consistency and to meet the 21st Century IDEA, we can work to establish the following conventions in the Water Management Community of Practice:
- URL names should always be lowercase
- URL should have no underscore, or spaces in them. Instead use a hyphen where possible
- Route with the following base paths:
- /reports
- /map
- /basins
- ...tbd
- If you have links that point to products that are incomplete, be sure to use a "ComingSoon" component to let users know change are coming.
