CWMS is a collection of software designed and assembled to assist Corps of Engineers water managers in making decisions regarding the release or storage of water and the operation of the various projects throughout their area of responsibility. This collection of software is separated into three groups:

  • Client Software
  • Modeling Software
  • Server and Database Software

The client and modeling software are combined into a single client package known as HEC-RTS for installation on your PC. The server and database software are assembled into a separate package for installation on your CWMS Server.

Key Upgrades in HEC-RTS 3.6.0 include:

  • Name Change - CAVI to HEC-RTS - Beginning with version 3.6, HEC-RTS and CWMS/CAVI will be unified into a single product: HEC-RTS. For USACE Water Managers, CWMS is still the overall Water Management System, HEC-RTS is the client executable. 
  • Enhanced Support for New LRTS Intervals - User interfaces in HEC-RTS and CWMS-Vue have been updated to support the newly available Local Regular Time Series (LRTS) in the database.   • Water Management Toolbox and New Impact Response Tool - A new standalone Impact Response Tool replaces the existing functionality within HEC-FIA. This tool allows users to rapidly assess impacts using forecasted stages from HEC-ResSim and/or HEC-RAS without the need to process data through HEC-FIA. This tool is included within the Water Management Toolbox, a new location for everyday water management tools. The Impact Response Tool is the first tool included.   • Consolidation of Data Functions - The Visualization Tab is now hidden by default and all data-related operations are consolidated into the Acquisition Tab, creating a more streamlined and centralized user experience for managing data within the interface.
  • Support for Paired Data Extract and Post - HEC-RTS can retrieve paired data from, or write it back to, local DSS files using standard Extract and Post operations within HEC-RTS.
  • Over 15 Known Issues addressed since CWMS 3.5.0. Numerous improvements to improve day to day use for Water Managers.
