When an execution of a forecast run begins, the Compute Progress dialog (Figure 1) opens. The Compute Progress dialog contains information regarding the status of each step of the computation process. The Message Output box (Figure 1) contains information regarding the status of each step of the computation process. In addition, if there are errors, warnings or any problems during the execution process.

For each model alternative associated with a forecast run that will be computed, CWMS provides status information by model alternative. The Message Bar (Figure 1) indicates which model alternative is being executed, the Current Task Progress Bar (Figure 1) indicates the percentage of completion for the current task. The Overall Progress Bar (Figure 1) indicates the percentage of completion of the compute. For example, in Figure 1 the Message Bar indicates that the HEC-ResSim model alternative is being run, the Current Task Progress Bar indicates that the HEC-ResSim portion is 15% complete, and the Overall Progress Bar indicates the entire compute is about 20% completed. When a compute is finished, then both progress bars will read 100%, and the Message Bar will read Compute Complete.

The information from the Compute Progress dialog (Figure 1) is also available in a log report. This log report contains the same information that is displayed in the Message Output box (Figure 1) of the Compute Progress dialog. Additionally, the report gives detailed information regarding the model alternatives that were computed.

To view the Log File

  1. To view this report, make sure you have an active forecast and at least one forecast run selected (checkbox) for viewing results (Modeling Module - Forecast Run Details Section).
  2. From the CWMS CAVI main window, click the Modeling tab, from the Forecast menu, point to Logs, click Compute. The Log File dialog will open (Figure 2).

  3. The Log File dialog (Figure 2) displays the key code name of the selected forecast run; displays the location and name of the file, which contains the log file; and displays the results of the computation.
