Forecast Tabs in the Modeling module provide you with easy access to commands and processes. There are six tabs – Actions, Reports, Scripts, Icon Layers, Workflow, and Team.

Actions Tab

The Actions tab provides a list of actions specific to your selection in the Forecast Run Details area. If you select a model alternative (HMS – Summer), the Actions tab displays the ability to compute the individual model alternative, and gives you access to several editors that are specific to the selected model alternative (e.g., HEC-HMS). Therefore, you can make changes to the selected model alternative without having to go to the Setup module to make edits.

Action Tab - Model Selected

If the user expands (clicks +) the model alternative, a list of elements specific to that model alternative will display (e.g., source, reservoir, subbasin, etc.).In the example below, a subbasin (Oaks_S10) is selected. An editor specific to that element type will display in the Actions tab, allowing you to make changes specific to that element. This means the user can make changes to the specific model alternative element without having to search the Map Window for the element.

For more details regarding the Action tab, see CWMS Forecasts.

Reports Tab

The Reports tab provides access to model reports and results, depending on what is selected within the Forecast Run Details area. For example, if you select an HEC-HMS subbasin, you will have access to the results of the forecast via graph, time-series table, and summary table.

For more information on using the Reports tab, refer to CWMS Results.

Scripts Tab

The Scripts tab gives you easy access to scripts developed for your watershed. You will need to develop these scripts before you can customize this tab for your use. See Scripting for more information.

When you first access the Scripts tab, it will be blank. Right-click in the blank space and choose Edit.

Scripts Tab With No Scripts Loaded

The Select Scripts dialog will open. Choose which scripts you want to include from the list on the left and click Add so they show up in the list to the right.

Select Scripts Dialog

Once you have all of your scripts selected, click OK. The scripts you selected will appear as buttons within the Scripts tab. You can now run the scripts by clicking on the appropriate button within the tab.

Icons Layers Tab

The Icon Layers tab gives you access to the Time Series Icon Controls. From the Time Series Icon Controls you can select the Time Series Icon Layer attributes that are displayed within the watershed.

Time Series Icon Controls

There are three attributes available:

  • Icons Type - Forces all icons within the map window to display as the selected Icon Type in the list. Selecting the Default option in the list will display the icons as they were set originally in the Setup module.
  • Values - Allows you to display the time series icon's data as labels, which display next to or on the location of their associated time series icons. For example, you can choose to display the data's total, minimum, and maximums values as labels. Multiple values can be selected at once.
  • Layers - Allows you to select the sub-layers that are visible in the map window. Multiple layers can be selected at once.

By selecting the attributes, you can change how time series icons are displayed within the Modeling module. For more detailed information on how to configure the properties that control time series icons, see Time Series Icons.

Workflow Tab

The Workflow tab provides you with specific workflow actions that can be added as individual buttons to streamline forecasting steps. The actions can be selected from overall forecast options (such as Compute, Open CAVI Dashboard, or Save to Base) as well as individual actions from specific plugins (such as opening the Combined Parameter Editor in HMS). The Workflow tab can be customized to include actions for daily CAVI interactions to structure and improve efficiency for when conducting a forecast. The Workflow tab will be empty when you first access the tab. You will need to set up the "workflow" you want to incorporate in this tab to allow you to quickly access actions that you follow during your forecasting routine.

Team Tab

The Team tab gives you access to team forecasting functions, if the forecast has been set up to be a team forecast. See Team Forecasting for more information.
