As explained in Acquisition Module, the Acquisition module allows you to review ongoing data acquisition processes and validate questionable data. While automated transformation and validation processes happen behind the scenes, CWMS keeps you apprised of the quality of incoming observed data in the database.

Data status lists allow you to monitor time series datasets by groups (such as all precipitation or all flow gages) and provide details for more or fewer time series datasets than appear in the geo-referenced map display. These lists can help you assess incoming data, ascertain that the incoming data streams are actually operational, and to identify specific locations where problems may exist in data acquisition.

Once the observed (raw) data is in the CWMS database, you can then validate this data (revised) either automatically or manually. Manually you will use validation lists to organize your data for ease of editing and validating.
