Post Editor
A post is created and defined from the Post Editor.
Accessing the Post Editor
To open the Post Editor, go to the Setup tab, open the Models menu, and select Edit Post.
The Post Editor is comprised of three sections: Post Groups, Available Output, and Post Linking.
Post Groups
The Post Groups section displays all defined post groups for the watershed. From this box, you can:
- Create, delete, rename, or duplicate a post group
- Select the groups to run by default
- Change the execution order of groups
- Apply Color coding to groups set to run by default
Post groups execute in the order they appear in the Post Groups box. If multiple post groups map data to the same record in the destination file, the last group to run will overwrite any previous data for that record.
For detailed instructions, see Setting Up a Post Group.
Available Output
This section lists all model alternative output records available for posting to destination files.
The table includes the following information:
- Index - A unique number assigned to each record (used only for filtering and organization).
- Model - The name of the software application that generated the output record.
- Alternative - The name of the model alternative that produced the output.
- Location - The model location associated with the output record.
- Parameter - The data type (e.g., flow, stage).
- Type - The data format (time series or gridded).
- Model Output - The pathname created by the model alternative.
These columns are not shown by default. To see them, you must customize the table view - see the Table View Options section below for instructions.
Post Linking
This section allows you to map model output data to records in the destination file for each Post Group.
Each entry includes:
- Index - A unique number assigned to each record (used only for filtering and organization).
- From forecast.dss - The output pathname from the forecast.dss files that provides the data for the corresponding To <data_source> entry.
- Model - The name of the software application that generated the output record.
- Alternative - The name of the model alternative that produced the output.
- Location - The model location associated with the output record.
- Parameter - The data type (e.g., flow, stage).
- To <data_source> - The destination pathname where the data will be written during the post.
These columns are not shown by default. To see them, you must customize the table view - see the Table View Options section below for instructions.
Table View Options
You can change the amount of information displayed in the tables in both the Available Output and the Post Linking sections.
Pathname Filters
To filter records:
Click the magnifying glass in the upper-right corner of the table, or
Click the Filter List button below the table.
The Pathname Filters for Post dialog provides slightly different filtering options based on whether you're filtering the Available Output or Post Linking section.
Column Text Filters
You can filter the records to show only those that contain a specific word or phrase. Use asterisks in the Filter For box to filter by partial matches (e.g., starts with, ends with, or contains).
You can filter by:
- Index
- Model
- Alternative
- Location
- Parameter
- Type
- Destination
- Any Column
To apply multiple filters, click the + button to add additional rows to the filter list. To remove all filters at once, click the Clear Text Filters button.
Display Columns
Use the Display Columns settings to choose which columns to view in each table.
Hide Assigned Destinations
Select Hide Assigned Destinations to hide output records that are already assigned to a post group (only available in the Available Output section).
Color Coding
You can use background and text colors to highlight records:
- In Available Output, color-code based on whether an output record is linked to a destination record.
- In Post Linking, color-code based on whether an output records is used by a model.
