The station tool allows users to place the station icon anywhere on the map panel. Stations can be associated with stream alignments or positioned on top of a computation point. By default, all water quality stations are added to the map schematic as meteorological stations, which users can later edit.
To add a water quality station to the map schematic in the map display area, follow these steps:
1) From the HEC-ResSim main window, navigate to the Watershed Setup module. 2) In the Toolbar, select the Station Tool (HEC-ResSim Watershed Setup Module – Water Quality Station Tool).

Hold down the Ctrl key and left-click on the map schematic at the desired location to place the station.
If the selected location along the stream alignment is not a CCP, a meteorological station (Met Station) will be placed by default at that location, and the Name New Station dialog (Name New Station – Create New WQ Station) will open.

Name New Station – Create New WQ Station

Enter the name of the water quality station in the Name field (Name New Station – Create New WQ Station) and provide a description (optional) in the Description field for the new water quality station. Click OK to save the information and close the Name New Station dialog.
If the selected location for the station is on a CCP, a Place Station message window (Place Station at the Computation Point – Confirmation Message) will appear, asking the user to confirm that the station should be placed at the identified computation point.
Click Yes to confirm the placement of the new water quality station at the desired computation point, The Place Station message window will close, and a meteorological station (Met Station) will immediately be placed in the map schematic (Watershed Setup Module – Map Schematic with Stations).

By default, when a water quality station is added to the map schematic, it is set as a meteorological station. However, the user can configure the station to be either an Observed Station, or both a Met and Observed Station, from the Station Editor (Station Editor – Configure Water Quality Station -Met station).

Note: User can map an observed paired data only to the observed stations that have the Profile Station check box checked.
