14. ABSTRACT

Welcome to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Reservoir System Simulation (HEC-ResSim) software, Version 4.0, developed by the Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) and the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center's Environmental Laboratory (ERDC-EL) in collaboration with Resource Management Associates (RMA), Portland State University (PSU), and the USACE Northwest Division (NWD). This manual provides an overview of the new HEC-ResSim water quality modeling capabilities and serves as a supplement to the HEC-ResSim User's Manual. For general information about the HEC-ResSim software, users are encouraged to refer to the HEC-ResSim Version 4.0 User's Manual.

The HEC-ResSim water quality Graphical User Interface (GUI) offers several key features that enable users to perform water quality analysis within the system: (1) defining meteorological stations and their data, (2) selecting modeled constituents from available water quality libraries, (3) defining appropriate methods and values for water quality parameters, (4) defining the water quality domain and geometry, (5) specifying initial and boundary conditions, (6) Incorporating observed water quality data for model calibration and validation, and (7) visualizing and analyzing water quality model outputs. This suite of capabilities provides comprehensive tools for modeling and managing water quality within HEC-ResSim.
