In real life, hatcheries are sophisticated facilities and operations. In EFMSim, hatcheries are modeled simply. Hatcheries, hatchery zones, and connectors are created at the application level and shown graphically in layout map windows. Zones are areas within the study area where members of simulated communities can be collected (source zone) or placed (planting zone). Connectors show the flow of organisms, either from source zone to hatchery (collection), from hatchery to planting zone (placement), or in both directions (Figure). Hatchery plans detail the flow of organisms in terms of count, size, and timing. Hatchery plans are covered in the Logic section of this manual.
