Course Overview

This course presents an abbreviated overview of how to approach Flood Risk Assessment using HEC-FDA software. The objective is to familiarize the participants with the concepts used in flood risk assessment, and how these concepts are incorporated into the HEC-FDA software. The concepts discussed in this course are a review of Flood Risk Management (FRM) economics; what is flood risk and how we assess it; the uncertainties in flood risk and how to incorporate them into estimates; and what other analysis is needed besides the Expected Annual Damage (EDA) computation. Additionally, this course will examine how to apply the course's concepts using the Hydrologic Engineering Center Flood Damage Reduction Analysis (HEC-FDA) software program.
