In HEC-FIA, direct damage is described by the magnitude of damage to structures and the individual structure's contents, vehicle values, and loss of life resulting from a flood event. This chapter describes how HEC-FIA computes direct damage for structures using depth-percent damage relationships and a flood event, including the use of results from the hydraulic event computation process highlighted in Hydraulic Event Computation. The following sections describe the inputs required for the direct damage computations, the computational procedures, and the results produced from the direct damage computations.
