Streamflow forecasts support reservoir operations and emergency planning by estimating the timing, magnitude, and volume of runoff. This chapter describes how HEC-HMS Forecast Alternatives use observed conditions, real-time parameter adjustments, and alternative meteorologic inputs to develop streamflow forecasts, with a case study of the Kaskaskia watershed.
