This feature is for Steady Flow Analyses only. The HEC-RAS software has the capability to optimize flow splits at lateral weirs/spillways, hydraulic connections, storage areas, and stream junctions. This feature is available by selecting "Split Flow Optimizations" from the "Options" menu of the Steady Flow Analysis" window. When this option is selected, a window will appear as shown below. When the split flow optimization is turned on, the program will calculate a water surface profile with the first assumed flows. From the computed profile, new flows are calculated for the hydraulic structures and junctions and the profile is re-run. This process continues until the calculated and assumed flows match within a given tolerance. For more information on split flow optimization, please review Example 15 of the Applications Guide.
