Overview

In this workshop, you will gain experience using HEC-SSP.  Specifically, you will import multiple data sets, compare, contrast, and manipulate data sets, create several new analyses, compute those analyses, and view the results.

The following major tasks serve as an outline for this tutorial:

  1. Create a new HEC-SSP study, import, and view multiple data sets.
    1. Import from the USGS website.
    2. Import from an existing DSS file.
    3. Import from an Excel file.
  2. Create and parameterize a Bulletin 17 analysis. Compute the newly created analysis and view the results.
  3. Create and parameterize a General Frequency analysis. Compute the newly created analysis and view the results.
  4. Create and parameterize a Duration analysis. Compute the newly created analysis and view the results.

Spend approximately 15 minutes per task to accomplish Tasks 1 - 4.  Tasks 5 - 8 are additional tasks that can be completed, if time allows.

  • Import data that was downloaded from the National Weather Service (NWS) using an HEC-DSSVue plugin.
  • Filter and modify multiple data sets.
  • Create and parameterize a Volume Frequency analysis. Compute the newly created analysis and view the results.
  • Create and parameterize a Distribution Fitting analysis. Fit and compare multiple analytical distributions. Select an analytical distribution and view the results.
