Selecting Output Variables

Open the Output Variable editor in HEC-WAT and choose the simulation and model alternative for the output variables desired, then click Select Output Variables... to open the output variable selector window.

For the Fragility Curve plugin, output variables may be chosen for each structure to report the sampled values:

  • Max Breach Elevation - the highest elevation sampled among the available failure modes.
  • Breach Elevation – the elevation sampled and provided as the output from the fragility curve plugin.  This represents the breach elevation provided to the consuming model.
  • Computed PFM (potential failure mode) – an integer value that reports which of the defined failure modes for the structure was selected.  The user will need to reference the model configuration to get more information on the PFM selected.

With the output variables selected, during the compute, the fragility curve plugin will save the relevant variables to the HEC-WAT output variables DSS file, allowing later review and analysis of the compute.

Viewing Results

Once output variables for the fragility curve have been selected, and the simulation has been computed, the output variables can be viewed through the standard tools provided in HEC-WAT for visualizing and reporting from the compute.

If the HEC-WAT simulation was computed with "save model folders" enabled, or the HEC-RAS plan and geometry files were saved, the user can open a specific event's model in HEC-RAS and view the breach configuration to see the sampled data as entered into the model.
