Every model alternative within the program order of a simulation has the ability to have input and output data locations. These are communicated from the plugin responsible for the model alternative and are usually derived from the user settings in the stand alone application or other plugin specifications. The Model Linking Editor links output data locations to input data locations to define how data flows through a simulation. In the Model Linking Editor there is a Data Locations report that provides the user the ability to view all available data at a particular location for each model alternative. This includes input data and output data from model alternatives.

To view Data Locations report:

  1. From the View menu of the Model Linking Editor, click Locations to access the Data Locations dialog.
  2. Select the simulation from the Simulation list to update the Model To Link list based on the model alternatives in the program order.
  3. Select a model alternative from the Model to Link list.

    Note

The Data Locations dialog box contains the same navigation buttons as the Model Linking Editor for selecting the simulation and/or model.

  4. Select Input or Output to view input data locations or output data locations from the Input/Output Locations list.
    • Below the table the number of input or output locations (e.g., 38 input locations) is listed for the selected simulation and model alternative.
  5. If the Data Locations dialog does not have any input or output data locations there may be an issue with the model alternative. It is rare that a model alternative has no inputs or outputs.
  6. To close the Data Locations dialog, click Close.
