1. The FRA simulation is now ready to be computed. To compute the simulation, from the Study Tree, right-click on the FRA simulation name, Existing, and from the shortcut menu point to Compute and click Simulation (CTRL to Force).
2. This will bring up the Run FRA simulation – Existing editor. For our FRA simulation, the default settings are appropriate.
Click Next> and the compute information will display.
3. Click Compute, and the compute should run in the opened Compute Progress window. The compute should take approximately 8 to 10 minutes to compute.
NOTE: While the compute is running, feel free to ask questions or run for a quick break – the compute should take 10 minutes, so be back in about that much time.
4. The compute complete dialog should look like the figure below. Close the Compute Progress window once the compute is complete.
Review the Results of the FRA Simulation
5. Now we want to look at the output results. To do so, from the Study Tree, right-click on Existing FRA simulation, point to Results, point to Output Variables, and click Frequency Viewer from the shortcut submenu.
You will be able to view the outputs from the output variable editor here, the first output will be the sampled Hydrologic Sampler model alternative output variable BASIN AVERAGE Precipitation (inches) for each event produced from the hydrologic sampler.
From the Variable dropdown list, if you scroll down to the WF Russian Outflow report you will see a truncated output variable frequency curve.
Question 1: In what ways are the outputs from WF Russian Outflow different than the outputs for Basin Average?
Answer to Question 1.
Question 2: Why do you suppose the outputs are different?
Answer to Question 2.
Question 3: Why does the Basin Average have output for every single event and WF Russian Outflow does not?
