Reservoir Storage vs. Yield Analysis
NEW IN RESSIM 4.0 The edit panel for the Reservoir Storage vs. Yield Analysis analysis type is shown in "Figure: Yield Analysis Tab – Reservoir Storage vs. Yield Analysis View". The process for setting up a Reservoir Storage vs. Yield Analysis analysisproceeds from the top down in the edit panel.
Select Demand Rule to Maximize—Select any reservoir that is a part of the alternative defined. Selecting a reservoir will populate the demand rule table with any rules that are associated with that reservoir.
The Reservoir Storage vs Yield Analysis option is used to calculate the firm yield at a variety of conservation pool sizes. For this option there will be several yield analyses performed, each one at a particular reservoir conservation pool storage. The model is set up with a given conservation pool size and depending on the number of yield analysis firm yield is calculated for different conservation pool.
“Adjustment Options” are used to define different conservation pool.
Figure: Reservoir Storage vs. Yield Analysis – Edit Adjustment Options
Seasonal Curve Adjustment Strategy— There are two options available to adjust seasonal curve:
Slide Pattern: is used to slide the conservation pool proportionally.
Proportionally Scale: is used for seasonal conservation pools. So, the seasonal swings get bigger with a bigger conservation pool.
Adjacent Zone Adjustments— When there is a bunch of other zones defined and you decrease or increase the size of the con pool there are two options available for adjacent zone adjustments:
Collapse Zones: keep the zones exactly at the elevations they're at, and if the conservation pool decreases to wipe out that zone, then just act like that zone disappears.
Proportionally Scale: move the zones up or down proportionally to the conservation zone scaling.
Demand Rules—this table gets loaded with all the rules that are associated with the reservoir selected in section1.
Number of Yield Analysis, Max Iterations for each Yield analysis, Yield Analysis to output—this is maximum number of yield analysis and maximum iterations for each yield that the yield analysis may perform in its attempt to converge on a solution.
Convergence Method—this radio button provides the choice of either Bisection Search Only or Heuristic and Bisection Search. See the Reservoir Yield Analysis for a detailed description.
