The Mass Injection Set Editor displays a tree view on the left panel, with Mass Injections as the primary "parent node." Each Mass Injection contains "leaves" representing the constituents selected for that specific mass injection site from the chosen WQ Constituent Set.

By default, the tree view is collapsed, showing only the Mass Injection nodes. If a user expands any of the parent nodes while working, the editor will remember which nodes were expanded the next time it is opened.

Constituents are added to the Mass Injections via a right-click menu option described in the section on Mass Injection Set menu options.

Right-clicking on the mass injection site name in the tree brings up the following shortcut menu options:

  • Add/Remove Constituents: This option opens the Constituent Selector dialog (Mass Injection Set Editor – Constituent Selector). Here, users can select the constituents they wish to associate with the mass injection site. There is an "Add to All Mass Injections" checkbox available. If checked, the selected constituents will be added to all mass injection sites within the mass injection set.

  • Copy From command opens the Copy From dialog (Mass Injection Set Editor – Copy From Option), which allows users to copy all constituent data source entries from one Mass Injection to another. This option enables the user to add constituent data to the target Mass Injection site. If a constituent is already defined in the target Mass Injection site, the existing data will be replaced with the data from the Copy From source. However, it is important to note that this option does not remove any constituent information from the Mass Injection site. Instead, it only replaces the existing data with the new data from the source site.

Expanding the Mass Injection nodes in the tree view reveals the individual constituents associated with each Mass Injection. Each constituent is displayed as a leaf node beneath its corresponding Mass Injection. By selecting a constituent from the tree, the data input panel for that specific constituent will appear on the right-hand side of the editor (Mass Injection Set Editor – Data Source).

When a constituent is selected, the editor for that constituent is displayed, allowing the user to configure its properties. Each constituent includes a Data Source dropdown, where the user can define the constituent using one of the available data sources. The two data source options are: Constant Value and DSS.

The Mass Injection Set Editor includes a single Mass Injection panel that provides navigation tools to help users move between different Mass Injection Sites. Using the Navigation buttons or the dropdown list of Mass Injections, users can easily switch between sites listed in the tree view.

For each selected data type, a plot panel is displayed at the bottom of the constituent's edit panel. This plot visually reflects the data entered for the Data Sources. If the selected Data Source is DSS, the plot will first use the Period of Record (POR) unless the user is viewing the data within the Simulation module. In that case, it will use the simulation time window to generate the plot.

By default, the Plot Selected Data Source radio button is selected, displaying the plot for the data source chosen in the Data Source dropdown. If multiple data sources have been defined, users can select the Plot All Defined Data Sources radio button to display the plots for all available data sources (Mass Injection Set Editor – WQ Constituent – Plot All Defined Data Sources).

When a Mass Injection or Constituent node is selected in the tree, different panel views will be displayed on the right side of the Mass Injection Set Editor. The top-level node, labeled with the name of the Mass Injection Set, presents a summary of all the mass injections and their corresponding constituent Data Source and Unit entries in a table format (Mass Injection Set Editor – WQ Constituent). This summary table provides an overview but is not editable.

If no data has been specified for a particular Constituent in a Mass Injection, the corresponding table cells will remain blank.

Right-clicking on the Mass Injection Set name at the top of the tree opens a shortcut menu, presenting the following options:

  • Collapse All – This option hides all tree nodes under the Mass Injection Set node, providing a more compact view.
  • Expand All – This option reveals all tree nodes under the Mass Injection Set node, allowing users to view all mass injections and their associated constituents.

When a single Mass Injection node is selected in the tree, the data panel displays a summary of the mass injection's constituents, either in a Summary Table or Stacked Plot. If the Summary option is chosen, a table is displayed, listing the Data Source for each constituent along with their Value or Pathname (Mass Injection Set Editor – Summary View). This table is for display purposes only and is not editable.

If the Stacked Plot option is selected, a series of stacked plots will appear, each representing the data for a different constituent within the mass injection set (Mass Injection Set Editor – Stacked Plot View).

The mass injection panel also provides key information about the Element Type, which could be either Junction, Reach, or Reservoir, depending on the element associated with the mass injection site. This information is displayed for reference and cannot be edited (Mass Injection Set Editor – Reservoir Injection Point).

The Injection Type can be defined by users as either Point or Distributed Along Element. If the Element Type is Reservoir and the Injection Type is Point, the user must specify either the Depth or Elevation of the injection using the corresponding radio buttons and input fields (Mass Injection Set Editor – Reservoir Injection Point). These fields will only be available when the conditions are met.

For Junction Element Type, the Injection Type will only allow the selection of Point. The units for the Depth and Elevation fields are based on ResSim display units.

In the map schematic, right-clicking on a Mass Injection site displays the Edit Mass Injection Set menu option. Selecting this option opens the Mass Injection Set Editor, allowing the user to modify or review the mass injection settings associated with that site.
