In the Geometry Editor, the Regions tab contains a single column, the Default Region column(Geometry Editor – Regions Tab), which lists the ResSim reaches and reservoirs within the water quality domain extent, displayed in hydrologic order. By default, the entire geographic extent of a created geometry is assigned to one region, called the Default Region. Regions are used to group watershed elements that share the same meteorological station and water quality parameters.
The table in the Regions tab cannot be edited directly within the Geometry Editor. However, users can increase the number of regions in the geometry dataset (refer to Create or Edit Regions) by modifying the regions from the map window schematic. Changes made to the number of regions or the elements assigned to a region in the map schematic will automatically update in the Regions tab of the Geometry Editor.

Water quality parameters can vary across different spatial locations in a model domain. If spatially varied water quality parameters are required for the simulation, it is essential to definewater quality regions within the geometry dataset. By segmenting the domain into distinct regions, each with its own set of water quality parameters, the model can more accurately represent the variability of water quality across the system.
