This section includes all workshops for the USACE PROSPECT Course #155 (Real-Time Water Management with CWMS).It is suggested to progress through the workshops as ordered, however each individual workshop is configured to be independent of prior workshops. The zip file embedded below in Course Data contains the necessary data for all of the workshops.

Software

CWMS 3.5.0 is used for the workshops. 

HEC-RAS 6.6 will need to be installed. It is the only software in the CWMS Suite that might require admin access to install. It can be downloaded here.

Course Data

The zip file structure is setup to be unzipped in your CWMS HOME working directory.   

CWMS HOME is the primary working directory (e.g. C:/CWMS_Class) that contains the watershed, forecast, and supporting data folders. 

Unzip the workshop package directly in the root of the CWMS HOME directory so that all the needed files are extracted into the watershed, forecast, database, and supporting folders.

It is recommended to complete the CWMS CAVI Orientation and Setup first before starting other workshops. While the workshops can be completed in any order, it is recommended to complete in the order provided.

After unzipping the class data, you should have a folder that looks like this:

Initial Setup

Please set the CWMS home to C:/CWMS_Class

  1. Open the CAVI and select Options from the Tools menu.

  2. From to the CWMS_HOME Directory tab, check the box for the Override local CWMS_HOME directory environment setting option.
  3. Type C:/CWMS_Class in the Local CWMS_HOME field.

  4. Click OK to exit the Options dialog. Changing the CWMS_HOME will prompt a restart of the CAVI.
  5. If this is the first time opening the CAVI, it is recommended to start with Task 1: CAVI Startup before progressing to other Workshops in the Course.

Solution Files

Download the Solution Data if you would like the watershed and forecast with the full solution. The zip file structure is setup to be unzipped in a CWMS working directory.
This must be a separate directory than the initial Workshop Data! Recommend C:/CWMS_Class_Solution
