1. Launch the CAVI, and select Local for the Server. By selecting Local, you will not be connecting to a CWMS Server to access data.

  2. If not already set - From the Tools menu, select Options. Then click on the CWMS_HOME Directory tab.

  3. Check the box next to the Override local CWMS_HOME directory environment setting option.

  4. Enter C:/CWMS_Class for the Local CWMS_HOME path.

  5. Click Apply, then OK.

  6. The CAVI will close to implement the change.

  7. Relaunch the CAVI.

  8. From the File menu, select Open Watershed.

    1. If this is the first time the CAVI is launched with no watershed locations yet defined, the following message will prompt you to define the watershed location for the CWMS Class datasets:
CAVI Dialog - No Watershed Locations
    2. Click the Edit button to add the C:/CWMS_Class folder to the available locations.

    3. Click Add Location to create a link to that folder on your computer.
    4. Enter the Name CWMS_Class and the Location C:/CWMS_Class into the dialog window and click OK to exit the Add Watershed Location dialog.
      Add Watershed Location Dialog

    5. Click OK to exit the Create Watershed Locations dialog.
    6. Select the Workshop_HEC_RussianRiver watershed and click OK to open the watershed. This watershed contains the majority of the Prospect Class Workshops as individual forecasts.

Once you have completed the workshops, uncheck the Override local CWMS_HOME directory environment setting or change the location. This is a CAVI option, not a watershed setting, so it will stay with the version of CWMS you are currently running, no matter what watershed you are working with in the future.
